In a dedication ceremony at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Pearl Veenema, President & CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, Rob MacIsaac, President & CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences, and Dr. Peter Fitzgerald, President of McMaster Children’s Hospital, unveiled something very weighty. It is a bronze bust of Ronald V. Joyce, created by local artist and sculptor, Juliet Jancso. The tribute is in acknowledgement of a $20 million gift from The Joyce Family Foundation to Hamilton Health Sciences.
When Jancso was commissioned to create the bust, she requested to spend some time with Ron Joyce to study him in person and to observe his features. Jancso captured the glean in Joyce’s eyes, recognizable to all who know him. Situated an open space of the hospital, it is as if Ron Joyce is enjoying his vantage point, watching the many children and families of MacKids.
