During Mental Health Week and in advance of National Child and Youth Mental Health Day, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton celebrated the expansion of its Youth Wellness Centre. The new space, within the existing Youth Wellness Centre, will be called The Joyce Link in recognition of a $1 million gift from The Joyce Family Foundation. The Centre just marked its two-year anniversary in downtown Hamilton and has been facing larger-than-anticipated numbers. The new space will help meet the demand and provide more opportunities for youth living with mental health issues and addiction to receive programming and support.

Steven Joyce, Trustee of The Joyce Family Foundation, was on hand to unveil the newly-expanded space. On behalf of his father, Ron Joyce, and the Foundation Board members, he shared great appreciation for the work of the Centre and the importance of spaces to care for the mental and emotional well-being of our youth. Youth representatives from the Youth Advisory Council shared their stories about the importance of the Youth Wellness Centre in their lives, and how their experiences at the Centre helped them to find hope and feel excited about the future.
